Why I like marketing so much


In 2005, I was going to college and playing basketball and they told me to choose my career. Honestly, I chose marketing because it sounded fun. I had no idea that it would stick! 

After college, I moved to Los Angeles and hit the ground running to start the next chapter of my life. It was 2008, smack dab in the middle of an economic crisis. I couldn't find marketing work, so I served tables and took the projects that came my way, giving me the opportunity to experience many things and sharpen many skills.

For 15 years, I’ve learned so much about marketing and copywriting, and how to do both with less manipulation. 

 
 

My experience


I’ve had a vegan body care line, a lifestyle blog, podcasts, and a personal brand. I’ve worked with global nonprofits, small businesses, marketing agencies, an NBA team, and people paving their own way. Now, I’ve helped over 100 people, brands, and organizations craft their brand message, and increase their sales or donations from double to over ten times.

I straight up enjoy marketing and copywriting, and helping business owners & organizations enjoy it too.

 

 Fun things about me


01. I played basketball competitively from childhood to college, and still play to this day. (I’ve got a mean 3-point shot, seriously don’t leave me open on the wing).

02. I worked at a comic book shop in Los Angeles for five years. I’ve loved comics since I was a kid. I’ll enjoy, with no guilt, any live-action version of a world I’ve escaped to for so long, no matter how terrible the reviews.

03. I love to travel. My favorite place to be is a cafe in a city I’ve never visited before watching life happen around me, and probably writing about it

04. I’m a typical Sagittarius sun, but in a fun way (I think. Adventure anyone?), Leo Moon and Rising Scorpio. I’m an INTJ, Enneagram 5, and a Manifesting Generator 2/5 profile. I love modalities that help me better understand myself.

05. High Fidelity is my favorite book, movie, and TV show (so sad it was canceled). 

To me, writing sales copy is like making a playlist, “It's got to be familiar but also unexpected. But most importantly, it's got to make you feel good.”

 

What I value as a person and a business
